Who you're contracting with

local-hotel.com is operated by COMPANY_NAME (company number COMPANY_NUMBER, VAT VAT_NUMBER), registered at OPERATOR_ADDRESS. References to "we" / "us" mean COMPANY_NAME.

What we do

We're a price-comparison site for hotels. We display rates from multiple third-party suppliers (currently LiteAPI and Hotelbeds, with more in development) and, when you book, we act as a reseller of the supplier's room. Your stay is governed by the supplier's and the hotel's own terms; we facilitate the transaction and collect payment.

How prices are calculated

The price you see is built from two layers we disclose openly:

  • Supplier net rate — what the wholesaler (e.g. LiteAPI, Hotelbeds) charges us for the room.
  • Our addition — depends on your account tier and the supplier:
    • Casual / anonymous bookers: a standard markup (currently 10%, may change with notice) plus the supplier-specific processing floor (see below).
    • 10-booking pass holders, Plus members, and frequent bookers (5+ confirmed bookings in the trailing 12 months): the supplier-specific processing floor only. No additional markup.

The processing floor covers our card-payment fees, refund-fee losses, and chargeback exposure on suppliers that don't pay us reseller commission. Current floors:

  • LiteAPI: 0% (they pay us commission instead)
  • Hotelbeds: 5%

All of the above is rolled into the single total price shown before you confirm — there are no separate booking fees, service fees, or surcharges added at the final step.

The 10-booking pass

You may purchase a 10-booking pass for £20 (one-off, non- recurring). The pass entitles you to make ten subsequent confirmed bookings at the floor-only price tier described above, regardless of how those bookings are distributed between suppliers.

  • The pass has no expiry date. Used bookings are decremented one per confirmed reservation at the time we materialise the supplier booking.
  • You can stack passes — purchasing a second pass before the first is exhausted adds to your total remaining bookings.
  • Cooling-off: under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days to change your mind about digital services. Once you make a booking using the pass, you expressly agree that we have begun providing the service and you waive your right to a full refund. If you have not used the pass within the 14-day cooling-off window we will refund it in full on request.
  • Refunds for partially-used passes are at our discretion. We may pro-rate (i.e. refund £20 − (£2 × bookings used)) as a goodwill measure if you contact us within 90 days of purchase.
  • The pass does not entitle you to any specific room, rate or availability — bookings remain subject to supplier inventory.
  • We may suspend a pass we reasonably believe to have been obtained or used fraudulently (e.g. shared accounts, mass speculative bookings).

Bookings

  • You must be 18+ to make a booking.
  • Prices are quoted in your selected currency and converted from USD using approximate exchange rates; the actual charge currency is set by the supplier and shown at checkout.
  • Bookings are subject to availability at the moment of confirmation. Prices may change between search and booking; we'll show any change before charging.
  • Once confirmed, the booking is binding subject to the supplier's cancellation policy displayed on the booking screen.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation rules are set by the supplier and the hotel, and are shown to you before you confirm. When you cancel via our site, we forward the cancellation to the supplier in real time and return any refund the supplier issues. See our Refund Policy for detail.

Payment

Card payments are processed by Stripe (a regulated payment services provider). We do not see or store your full card number. By submitting a booking or pass purchase you authorise us (and where applicable the supplier) to charge the card for the total displayed at the time of the transaction.

Payment is taken in full at the time of booking unless a specific rate offers pay-at-property. The currency of the actual charge is set by the supplier and shown at checkout; any visible currency conversion is an approximation for display only.

Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
  • One account per person; no automated scraping.
  • We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or attempt fraud.

Liability

We're liable to you only for losses that are a foreseeable consequence of our breach of these Terms or our negligence, and only up to the value of the booking concerned. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited under English law.

We don't operate the hotels and aren't responsible for the stay experience, on-site services, or hotel-side disputes. For those issues, contact the hotel or supplier directly; we'll help where we can.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, save that consumers resident in another part of the UK may bring proceedings in their local courts.

Changes

We may update these Terms; the version in force when you make a booking is the one that applies to that booking. Material changes will be notified by email at least 30 days before taking effect.
